Why Boarding?

There is no doubt that the value of boarding is becoming more apparent all the time. Studies have shown that boarders study longer, participate in community activities, form lifelong friendships, learn independence and self-reliance, and develop the skills they’ll need to effectively tackle the challenges of university and beyond.

The Association of Boarding Schools (TABS) research has found that “boarding schools become extended families where teachers and students live and learn together. The 24-hour community of a boarding school environment allows the faculty to seize every teachable moment whether in the classroom, on the playing field, or in the dormitory.”

Other noteworthy findings:

  • Boarding students spend nearly twice the hours (18) on homework than day students;
  • Boarding students spend an average of 12 hours per week exercising or playing sports compared to 9 hours for day students;
  • 60% of boarding students apply to boarding schools primarily because of the better educational opportunity;
  • By late career 52% of former boarding students achieve positions in top management.
