Based on the BSS philosophy of teaching the ‘whole girl’, it is a clear priority of the School to augment classroom learning with ample opportunities for authentic learning outside of the classroom. These include a staggering array of the more traditional co-curricular activities such as athletic teams, music, drama and dance, outdoor education, and leadership opportunities; along with an equally abundant selection of unique endeavours such as international learning excursions including a three week long study tour with our partners in Asia, a multitude of innovative clubs from Robotics to Fair Trade, and perhaps most importantly, the openness to explore other activities that the girls themselves express interest in.
At the Grade 7 and 8 level, all students are given the opportunity to take on a leadership role through participation in one of three Middle School leadership committees. The Middle School program provides emergent opportunities for girls to get involved in a variety of areas of their own interest and provides an excellent foundation for the formal Senior School leadership positions.
