Chaplain

Chapel at The Bishop Strachan School is a welcoming community.  The services, while grounded in the Anglican tradition, are designed to be respectful of all faiths.  The overarching theme for the services addresses two essential questions:

-What kind of world do you want to live in?

-What are you going to do today to turn it into that kind of world?

Services are designed and lead by prefects, house heads, Middle School advisors, councils, and committees. Music is an integral part of the services and special services include the Holocaust Remembrance Service, Black History, Montreal Massacre, Remembrance Day and the Service of Lessons and Carols, led by different student volunteers. Girls from all faiths are encouraged to present in chapel. It is the hope that girls who have passion around a particular issue related to peace and justice will step forward to deliver a homily of their interest. To gain a better understanding of what this means, please take a few moments to read a student homily, here: Sarah’s Awesome Homily.

BSS’s chaplain is Reverend Cathy Gibbs.
