Choosing a Good Fit

With so many universities to choose from, how do you find the best one for you?

Figuring out what to do after high school can be a daunting task. We fundamentally believe that the girls are at the centre of this process, which is one of self-discovery. Our Student Services counsellors are ready to help students negotiate these uncharted waters and discuss choices and concerns.

Although the university application process happens in Grade 12, planning for this begins as early as Grade 9. In Grades 9 and 10, we encourage our students to focus on understanding their interests and who they are as students and learners. Equally important will be the energy and effort they put in to being the best student they can be. When not in the classroom, there are myriad opportunities for BSS girls to get involved in those aspects of the life of the school that interest them the most.

In Grades 11 and 12, university planning is at the forefront of students, parents and counsellors’ minds. We offer many opportunities and resources to help guide the university investigation and application process:

  • Multiple information sessions in Grades 11 and 12 on university planning;
  • Upwards of 60 university liaison visits from Canadian, American and British universities;
  • Specific US and UK information and application sessions;
  • Individual counselling meetings;
  • Essay writing support;
  • Ongoing communication from the Student Services department regarding university related topics.
