Interviews

The university interview is an opportunity for students to reinforce their application decision, and for the admissions representatives to make sure the student is a good fit for the school.

In Canada, interviews are generally not required, with the exception of a few specific or over-subscribed programs. For example, Waterloo Architecture not only requires an interview, but asks students to bring examples of their work. Ryerson Theatre Arts requires an interview with the Program Director as well as an audition.

When applying to a school in the US, interviews can be required but are often informal and not subject specific. There are exceptions, though, such as direct entry medicine programs. Interviews can happen during a campus visit but can also be conducted in Toronto by an alumnus.

When applying to the UK, depending on the school and the program, students may be invited to an interview overseas and they should be prepared to travel. Interviews can be intense and students should prepare accordingly. The BSS Student Services team is here to support our students through this process.
