Strategic Plan Update

We are now also almost two years into our strategic plan. Launched in January 2023, we set out to educate more female leaders and we have made a great deal of progress since that launch.
As part of delivering exceptional teaching and learning, we committed to implementing a regular cycle of curriculum renewal using research and analysis by external expert reviewers. We have now completed inquiries into several areas of study, including languages, health and physical education, coding and English with a focus on reading and writing. This curriculum renewal contributes to the foundational knowledge and skills that will set our students up for success in their post-secondary journey.

We are enabling connection and meaning through a research-based Well-Being Framework that is grounded in the science of well-being and positive psychology. This tiered framework combines theory with practical strategies to empower students to flourish academically, socially, emotionally and spiritually.

We are a dedicated leader in providing access to talented students. We continue to provide the most financial assistance of any girls school in Canada and have expanded the program to include Grade 6. We have established Grade 1 and Grade 6 as entry years to create more opportunities for talented girls to join our school.

We have increased the breadth of opportunities for high-performing athletes thanks to the generosity of a BSS donor. Participants will engage in specialized programming to thrive academically and in their sport. We are also developing the BSS Lang Scholar program, made possible because of the transformational gift from Stu Lang. This initiative celebrates athletic and academic excellence and nurtures leadership potential, giving promising leaders the tools to become tomorrow’s change-makers.

We continue to upgrade our learning environment to foster connection and belonging. In the first 18 months of our strategic plan, we opened a new turf field, the Boarding Commons and a reimagined Emma’s Garden. Each of these spaces allow students to connect, reflect, learn and grow in different ways.

Thanks to the continued dedication of our faculty and staff, parents, students and alumnae, we have made great progress on our strategic plan initiatives. Together, we are continuing to inspire girls to be fearless and educate them to be leaders.
