Annual Fund

Thank you for supporting The Bishop Strachan School!
Donating to the Annual Fund enables us to continue providing a world-class education and resources that nurture the curiosity of our students and encourage them to explore the world around them with confidence. From our academic programs, to infrastructure, our financial assistance program, and overall campus life, every gift to the Annual Fund helps support costs not included in tuition and fees.

Key Funding Areas

List of 9 items.

  • Area of Greatest Need

These are unrestricted, immediate-use funds that will be put towards providing an enriching experience for our students. Gifts to the Area of Greatest Need have enabled a wide range of initiatives, from enhanced spaces around the school to state-of-the-art tools and resources.
  • Junior School Fund

Directing your donation to the Junior School allows us to create an exciting and creative learning experience. Gifts to this fund have enabled us to enhance spaces like the new wooden play structure for the Junior School playground, which is a safer, more engaging area for our youngest students to explore, play and grow.
  • Middle and Senior School Fund

Directing your donation to the Middle and Senior School enables us to enrich learning by bringing in a variety of guest speakers, like Indigenous artist Alanis Obomsawin, who inspire, challenge and engage our students with new ideas and experiences.
  • Academic Programs

Supporting our academic programs allows us to welcome visiting authors and experts, including Jamaican-Canadian author Zalika Reid-Benta, who shared her collection of work with Grade 10 students. Experts like these bring valuable insights, fresh perspectives, and real-world knowledge to augment our students’ learning.
  • Co-Curricular Programs

Co-curricular programs spark curiosity, creativity and leadership beyond the classroom. Your contributions provide the tools students need to thrive, like updated equipment for the Hudson Theatre, which has enhanced the production experience of every performance.
  • Arts

Through the arts, students nurture their creativity, build confidence and find their voice. Your gift helps enrich programs like drama, visual arts and music by providing essential resources such as new pianos for our Music Department.
  • Athletics

We know that participating in athletics builds teamwork, confidence and resilience. Your gift ensures students grow through sport and enables upgrades like new scoreboards for volleyball and basketball.
  • Boarding

By contributing to Boarding, you’re providing a nurturing environment that fosters students’ growth as leaders and community members. Funds are directed towards programming such as off-campus trips, celebrations and family dinners, where boarders can take on leadership roles, challenge themselves and learn valuable life skills.
  • Financial Assistance

Contributions to financial assistance help cover the full student experience, including tuition, school trips, supplies, uniforms and technology, so that more students of grit, character and promise can access a BSS education, regardless of their financial background. Gifts can be made in two ways: as an endowed gift, which is invested to generate interest that’s used to fund various programs; or as an expendable gift, which is used in full within the fiscal year to make an immediate impact. Thanks to the generosity of donors, $2.2 million was awarded for the 2025-26 school year, enabling 74 students to attend BSS.
