2022 - Dominique HUSSEY ’91
Dominique HUSSEY ’91, one of the country’s top intellectual property litigators, is now the first Black managing partner on Bay Street. The 2022 Distinguished Old Girl Award recipient sits on three boards: the BlackNorth Initiative, Ontario Brain Institute and The Advocates’ Society.
At the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, Dominique was appointed managing partner at Bennett Jones, becoming the first Black woman to lead a Bay Street firm. It was a milestone in a career filled with them, and she was just 46 years old. Dominique was inundated with congratulatory phone calls and also faced an immense task: to keep the firm—its finances, its lawyers—healthy in the midst of an unprecedented crisis.
