Understanding Particles Through Coding
As part of the heat and energy unit, Grade 7 students delved into particle theory by exploring the transitions between solid, liquid and gas states.
They started by drawing particles, motion lines and spacing on paper, followed by drawing visual storyboards. Using Scratch, a block-coding program, students animated these transitions, choosing varying levels of complexity for their projects. They learned and analyzed lines of code, applying both taught concepts and self-researched ones. This project enhanced their planning, visualization, research and application skills, along with their artistic abilities in visualizing particle theory transitions.
