Rachel Hughes

Rachel has worked as an educator for more than 20 years in various locations. She has worked in a variety of school settings, including charter, public, independent and international schools in Calgary, Vancouver, Monterrey, Mexico, and most recently in Toronto. Rachel has been a faculty member at the Bishop Strachan School since 2007 where she worked as a teacher for 10 years, before assuming the position of Vice Principal of the Junior School in 2017. She has been immersed in the Reggio Emilia philosophy throughout her time here at BSS, continuously seeking inspiration and guidance from the work of the children and educators of Reggio Emilia together with her colleagues. Rachel is an active board member of the Ontario Reggio Association and successfully hosted the Mosaic of Marks exhibit and the NAREA conference at BSS in 2023.
