Our Community

Our Volunteers

At BSS, volunteering isn’t just an activity; it’s a pathway to fostering a true sense of belonging.
We offer a rich array of opportunities to connect and contribute. Our volunteers help us build community, mentor students and much more. Whether they contribute skills from their career or unique personal experiences, each volunteer’s involvement greatly benefits the school community.

Tailored roles that match our volunteers’ interests and capacities reflect our inquiry-based approach to learning. Our volunteers not only give back; they continue to learn and grow themselves. They model the importance of community involvement and service to students. And when families and alumnae from diverse backgrounds come together, they create a community where everyone is welcomed and valued as their authentic selves.

Recognizing Our Volunteers

The BSS Volunteer Service Award celebrates the vital role of volunteers in empowering girls through education. As grade and year reps, committee members, classroom guests, event coordinators and much more, our volunteers model the Signature of a BSS Girl with energy, dedication and generosity — and inspire others to do the same.

The award is open to any BSS parent or alumna who has made outstanding contributions in support of the school. Each year, up to three volunteers are selected by the Development Committee of the BSS Board of Governors and honoured at our annual recognition event in June.

To nominate a deserving recipient, please fill out the nomination form. Nominations close on April 22, 2025. If you have any questions, please reach out to advancement@bss.on.ca.
